Yet another one of my silly and impulsive ideas: why not attend the opening day of the visitors' trail of the Concertgebouw ("Concert Building") in Bruges, and take some nice pictures of the building, designed by architects Paul Robbrecht and Hilde Daem, in the process? The assumption was that this would be my shot at getting in parts of the building otherwise closed to the public. Naturally, the place was literally crawling with people, making slow and deliberate architectural photography a no-go: planting a tripod in the middle of a stream of people burrowing through the sometimes narrow hallways was more enerving than fun, and occasionally, albeit mostly kindly, frowned upon by the attendees. Ironically, I went shooting on the exact day that festively marked the moment the building would be fully and permanently accessible to the public. Go figure. In any case, the square in front of the building was still in the process of being rebuilt, which precluded outside shots and in some instances made for messy through-the-window views. You can feel where this is going, can't you? I'll have to go back when all construction is finished, and take another shot at the building. And another. And, as befits architectural photography, yet another.
